Liu Jingkang, the founder of Insta360, has made an announcement that the company is set to open-source four of its core panoramic technologies. Leveraging a decade's worth of accumulated panoramic data and AI know-how, the company's AI Research Institute has successfully had four research papers accepted by premier conferences over the past six months. Liu Jingkang emphasized that the primary goal of open-sourcing academic achievements is to foster growth within the industry. Presently, Insta360's high-fidelity panoramic drone simulation platform, AirSim360, along with the DAP panoramic metric deep learning model, are already available as open source. Additionally, the company plans to incentivize industry contributors with gold keycaps. During the Shanghai Hackathon event, Liu Jingkang awarded a gold keycap to the MVP participant who emerged victorious, signifying the inaugural instance of such an accolade being bestowed upon an external developer.
