According to the latest report from international market research firm Omdia, global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2026 increased by 1% year-on-year, slightly outperforming market expectations. This growth was primarily driven by early channel stockpiling, a short-term supporting factor that has not yet fully reflected the pressure from rising supply chain costs. Memory and storage costs surged significantly in the first quarter, yet manufacturers have not yet fully raised end-user retail prices.
