Based on the most recent data released by Omdia, the global PC market experienced a notable uptick in the first quarter of 2026, with shipments reaching 64.8 million units—a 3.2% year-on-year surge. Breaking it down, notebook shipments accounted for the bulk of this growth, totaling 50.8 million units and marking a 2.6% increase from the previous year. Desktop shipments, on the other hand, also saw a healthy rise, reaching 14 million units, which translates to a 5.4% year-on-year boost.

Several key factors contributed to this positive trend. Firstly, manufacturers and distribution channels opted to stockpile inventory ahead of time, anticipating and mitigating the impact of escalating component costs. Secondly, the impending end of support for Windows 10 acted as a catalyst, prompting businesses to allocate budgets for system upgrades and replacements. Lastly, the synchronized launch of new spring product lines further fueled market activity, as consumers and enterprises alike sought to stay abreast of the latest technological advancements.
