The engineering hurdles associated with Apple’s foldable iPhone have proven to be more intricate than initially foreseen by the tech giant, necessitating extra time for resolution. In a worst-case scenario, the launch of this innovative device could be pushed back by several months, with production potentially facing last-minute snags. Despite these challenges, Wall Street analysts, including experts from Morgan Stanley, remain optimistic about a September release for the phone, which is expected to carry a price tag exceeding $2,000. This launch is seen as a pivotal element in Apple’s strategy to revamp its iPhone lineup.

Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring has highlighted that supply chain surveys suggest the foldable iPhone is on course for its planned unveiling. Although Apple might encounter minor setbacks during the EVT (Engineering Validation Test) phase, Woodring is confident that these issues can be ironed out before mass production commences in the summer.

Echoing this sentiment, Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani also deems a delayed launch improbable, forecasting that the phone will make its debut alongside the iPhone 18 series. Insiders have further disclosed that the first foldable iPhone will be launched as scheduled during this year’s regular iPhone release window. While initial supplies may be constrained in the first few weeks, the device is still set to hit the market concurrently with or shortly after the new non-foldable iPhones, although the exact release date is yet to be confirmed.
