On April 1, well-known blogger Zip Tie Tech revealed that certain M5 Max MacBook Pro models are experiencing erratic multi-core performance, with benchmark test scores showing fluctuations as high as 41.5%. It is suspected that this issue stems from a hardware batch defect rather than being a software-related problem. At present, the only viable solution is to seek a replacement device from Apple. During his usage, Zip Tie Tech observed that even when the high-power mode was activated, the multi-core scores continued to exhibit significant volatility. He reached out to six other users of the same model, two of whom reported encountering the identical issue. After experts dismissed thermal problems as the cause, the precise reason for this performance inconsistency remains unclear. However, the replacement units provided by Apple have been functioning normally.
