On March 31, TCL Electronics made an announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, revealing that its wholly-owned subsidiary, TTE Corporation, had entered into a transaction framework agreement with Sony after trading hours on the same day, March 31, 2026. Under this agreement, the two entities will jointly establish a venture to take over Sony's home entertainment operations, encompassing TVs and audio products. TTE will secure a 51% stake in the joint venture, while Sony will hold the remaining 49%. Additionally, TTE will purchase 100% of the equity in Sony's Malaysian subsidiary, SOEM, for an approximate sum of HK$3.781 billion. The transaction is set to close on April 1, 2027, pending government approval.
