Sichuan Tianfu Light Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. has developed a 60-kilowatt hybrid electric propulsion system that has successfully undergone flight demonstration verification. This achievement signifies the steady advancement and maturation of hybrid power technology tailored for small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The system utilizes an innovative extended-range hybrid power approach, which harmonizes the prolonged endurance offered by traditional fuel with the stealthy and silent attributes of electric propulsion. Despite its compact design, the system is capable of generating power mid-flight and facilitates a seamless transition to a pure electric mode. Its ducted fan configuration significantly minimizes noise levels. This company is a collaborative venture among AECC Chengdu Engine Co., Ltd., Turbo Engine Research Institute, and Chengdu Tiantou Group. Moreover, during the 2025 Asia General Aviation Exhibition, AECC presented an array of power products making their maiden appearance, along with showcasing a megawatt-class hydrogen fuel turbine engine that has successfully completed 60 hours of initial testing. This underscores the extensive exploration and remarkable breakthroughs in domestic aerospace propulsion technology across diverse avenues.
