LG Display has emerged as the pioneer in the mass production of LCD notebook screens capable of supporting a minimum refresh rate of 1Hz. Notably, the 2026 Dell XPS 14 and 16 notebooks are already on the market, featuring this innovative panel. Leveraging 'Oxide 1Hz' technology, the panel intelligently adjusts its refresh rate according to different usage scenarios. When the screen remains static, it can drop to as low as 1Hz, significantly reducing power consumption and prolonging battery life. Conversely, during interactive sessions, it can ramp up to a maximum of 120Hz, ensuring a seamless and fluid user experience. Moreover, LG Display has revealed its plans to commence mass production of OLED panels with a 1Hz refresh rate capability by 2027. Prior to this, Intel and BOE had collaborated on developing OLED notebook screens capable of dropping to 1Hz, but no mass-produced products have been launched in the market thus far.
