Recently, numerous Android users have raised concerns, reporting that the Meituan App has been deleting photos and videos from their phone galleries without their permission. The number of affected files varies widely, ranging from hundreds to thousands. In some severe cases, users have suffered permanent data loss, with 504GB of photos and videos irretrievable. On March 24th, Meituan's customer service team addressed the issue, explaining that it was caused by abnormal cache-clearing mechanisms triggered by conflicts with certain third-party plugins under specific Android system versions. They emphasized that this incident did not involve any leakage of user information. Furthermore, Meituan stated that an emergency fix has been deployed to help users recover their lost data and compensate for any resulting inconveniences.
