On March 23, DJI Innovation formally initiated legal proceedings against Insta360 Innovation at the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court in Guangdong Province. The lawsuit centers around disputes over the ownership of six patents. It is alleged that several former key R&D staff members from DJI are implicated in this case, and the court has agreed to hear it. DJI has alleged that the patents held by Insta360 Innovation in question pertain to crucial technological domains, including drone flight control, structural design, and image processing. DJI further claims that these patents were developed within a year of the former employees' departure from DJI and are closely tied to their responsibilities at DJI.
In response, Liu Jingkang, the founder of Insta360 Innovation, emphasized that they have thoroughly examined the patents filed by the relevant employees during the specified timeframe. According to the available evidence, these patents represent original ideas and innovations independently developed within Insta360, rather than being derived from DJI's work.
