DJI has recently taken legal action against Insta360 by filing a lawsuit at the Intermediate People's Court of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The lawsuit centers around six disputes concerning patent ownership. It is alleged that several former key R&D team members from DJI are implicated in this case, and the court has officially accepted it for further proceedings. This lawsuit represents DJI's inaugural foray into such legal action within China, with the patents at the heart of the dispute primarily pertaining to crucial drone flight control technologies. DJI has asserted that these patents were developed by its ex-employees within a year of their departure from the company and bear a strong resemblance to their original job responsibilities.

According to well-informed sources, when Insta360 filed two patents in China, it requested that the name of a particular inventor be omitted from the Chinese application documents. However, in the corresponding international application, this individual was identified as a former core R&D staff member at DJI who possessed in-depth knowledge of the company's core technological framework.
