Despite the iPhone 17e having hit the market less than a week ago, details about its follow-up, the iPhone 19e, have already emerged. A report from South Korean media outlet ZDNet Korea indicates that Apple intends to outfit the iPhone 19e, slated for release in early 2028, with a ProMotion variable refresh rate display for the first time. This display will offer a refresh rate range of 1Hz to 120Hz, marking a significant departure from the 60Hz screens that have long been standard on entry-level iPhones. Previously, both the iPhone 17e and the iPhone 18e, which are expected to launch in 2027, have been equipped with LTPS screens that are locked at a 60Hz refresh rate. In contrast, LTPO technology allows for dynamic adjustment of the refresh rate, striking a balance between smooth visuals and energy efficiency.

Furthermore, Apple has plans to incorporate the more advanced LTPO+ technology into the iPhone Air and its foldable devices, both of which are set to debut in 2028. Should the iPhone 19e successfully integrate an LTPO screen, it will significantly reduce the performance disparity between Apple's high-end and budget models, offering users a smoother and more energy-efficient experience.
