Today, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan, accompanied by other senior executives, arrived in Shenzhen. In the morning, they toured the Apple Applied Research Lab situated in the Futian Free Trade Zone of Shenzhen. This lab, which commenced operations in 2024, represents Apple’s newest applied research facility in China. Strategically located near Apple’s main production and assembly hubs in the country, it facilitates seamless collaboration with almost 200 nearby suppliers. The proximity has significantly cut down the sample transfer time between suppliers and the lab to a mere one day.
It is reported that Apple’s executives are also set to visit several supply chain manufacturers in Shenzhen. This marks the inaugural visit by Apple’s top brass to China in 2026.
