On March 12, it was reported that the 2026 Appliance & Electronics World Expo opened in Shanghai. During his speech, Chi Xu, founder and CEO of XREAL, pointed out that the current stage of the smart glasses industry is similar to that of the smartphone industry in 2005-2006. In the future, smart glasses are expected to meet the vast majority of usage needs, just like smartphones do today. To achieve this goal, two conditions must be met: hardware miniaturization and a multimodal world model. Xu predicted that the key development period for smart glasses will arrive in 2027-2028.
