On March 9th, the latest smartphone research report from TrendForce unveiled that in the fourth quarter of 2025, propelled by the launch of new Apple models, the global smartphone production soared to 337 million units, reflecting a 2.7% uptick from the preceding quarter. Both Apple and Samsung are anticipated to manufacture approximately 240 million units each in 2025, thereby jointly claiming the top position on the global stage. According to TrendForce's insightful analysis, the smartphone market in the first half of 2025 is poised to gain momentum from subsidy policies in the Chinese market, while the second half will usher in the traditional peak sales season. The annual production is projected to surge to around 1.254 billion units, marking a 2.5% year-on-year growth. However, in 2026, owing to substantial hikes in memory prices, smartphone production costs are expected to rise significantly, leading to a projected decline in global production scale by at least 10%, down to 1.135 billion units. Brand manufacturers will confront the dual challenges of 'raising prices to safeguard profits' and 'downgrading specifications to sustain sales volume,' with the low-end market anticipated to bear the brunt of these changes.
