On March 4, data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology revealed that in January 2026, the domestic market witnessed mobile phone shipments totaling 22.866 million units, marking a year-on-year decrease of 16.1%. Specifically, shipments of 5G phones amounted to 19.870 million units, experiencing a 15.9% decline compared to the same period last year, yet still accounting for a substantial 86.9% of the total. During the same month, 37 new mobile phone models were introduced, reflecting a 2.8% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, smartphone shipments reached 20.696 million units, constituting 90.5% of the overall mobile phone shipments.
