Recently, reports have surfaced indicating that Apple is making significant strides in the development of a large-sized foldable iPad. Despite encountering a multitude of technical hurdles during the research and development phase, the device is still projected to make its debut in 2029. Some refer to this innovative gadget as the foldable iPad, while others have dubbed it the “full-screen MacBook.” Earlier, the project faced a temporary setback due to concerns regarding the device's weight and screen technology. However, it was later clarified that the extent of the suspension might have been overstated. Initially slated for a 2028 release, the launch has now been pushed back to 2029 owing to these technical challenges. The device will boast an 18-inch Samsung display, and Apple is diligently working to minimize screen creasing issues. The company has already instructed its suppliers to commence the production of components for a foldable iPhone. Owing to the incorporation of a large foldable OLED screen, production costs have surged, potentially making the price up to three times that of the 13-inch iPad Pro, hovering around the $3,900 mark. In its folded configuration, the device bears a resemblance to a MacBook devoid of a secondary screen. When unfolded, the screen size approaches that of the 13-inch MacBook Air, and notably, it does not feature a physical keyboard. The prototype tips the scales at approximately 1.59 kilograms, making it heavier than the current iPad Pro models.
