Technology journalist Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple intends to preserve the distinct identities of its two flagship product lines, the Mac and iPad, and has no immediate plans to introduce a hybrid device. This strategic move is underpinned by both product differentiation and business rationale, as each product line generates roughly $30 billion in annual revenue. The inaugural touchscreen MacBook Pro is anticipated to hit the market by the end of 2026, defying the conventional wisdom that 'laptops don't require touchscreens.' It will be marketed as a 'touch-friendly' rather than a 'touch-centric' device. Concurrently, Apple is also in the process of developing a foldable iPad with a screen size on par with a Mac, powered by iPadOS. Apple is set to host a product launch event on March 4; however, the touchscreen MacBook Pro will not be featured at this gathering. Its OLED touchscreen is slated to commence mass production in the latter half of the year. The touch-enabled MacBook Pro will come in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, boasting an upgraded OLED touchscreen and integrating the Dynamic Island design. From a hardware perspective, it will make its debut with TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm process M6 series chips. Furthermore, Apple might also roll out products such as the iPhone 17e, new MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air this week. The company has informed its retail staff to expect overtime, and stores are gearing up with dedicated display stands for the new arrival.
