Based on the most recent report from market research firm Counterpoint Research, due to the escalating crisis in memory supply, global smartphone shipments are estimated to decrease by 12.4% year-on-year in 2026. This will bring the figure down to below 1.1 billion units, marking the lowest level since 2013. Other institutions, such as IDC, also predict a comparable decline. They point out that memory shortages have led to increased costs, compelling manufacturers to hike prices. The low-end market has been the most severely impacted by this situation.
