On February 27, 2026, Meizu unveiled a strategic transformation plan, putting to rest rumors about “bankruptcy reorganization, business closure, and smartphone delisting.” The company announced that it would halt self-developed hardware projects for new domestic smartphone models, opting instead to collaborate actively with third-party hardware partners—a move that would not affect its current operations. Meizu explained that the skyrocketing costs of memory components had made the commercialization of new smartphone products untenable, prompting the company to pivot toward developing an AI-powered software ecosystem. Meizu will now focus its resources on bolstering the capabilities of the Flyme software ecosystem, enhancing the foundation of Flyme+AI integration, and pursuing open collaboration with partners across diverse industries. Meanwhile, its overseas smartphone business, AI glasses, and PANDAER tech lifestyle brand will embark on market-driven operations. StarRMeizu CEO Huang Zhipan remarked, “Meizu will always be where its fans are! With 23 years of passion behind us, we are now reborn under the banner of Flyme!”
