Acer's Chairman, Jason Chen, stated that the current imbalance in the supply and demand dynamics for upstream materials has driven up costs. These increased costs will, without a doubt, be passed on to consumers, manifesting as higher final selling prices. Despite the anticipated 6% to 9% drop in market shipments of PCs due to these price hikes, the average selling price is projected to experience double-digit growth. Consequently, Acer still expects its overall PC sales to grow this year. Jason Chen disclosed that there was a notable spike in rush orders for PCs in January, with shipments surging by 40% compared to the same period last year. This surge reflects customers' apprehensions about impending price increases and their subsequent decision to place orders ahead of time. Jason Chen forecasted that as long as prices continue their upward trajectory, the phenomenon of rush orders will persist, with the exact duration hinging on the evolving price trends.
