Western Digital plans to increase its investment in research and development of Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) hard drive technology in Thailand, with the latest approved investment amounting to approximately 2.3 billion Thai baht (around $73.81 million). The project, approved by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), will establish an HAMR HDD technology R&D center leveraging Western Digital's existing facilities in Thailand. This move aims to enhance the technological level and added value of local hard drive production by introducing next-generation recording technology.
