As reported by ETNews, Apple is set to release a more compact foldable smartphone, dubbed the iPhone Flip, subsequent to the unveiling of the larger iPhone Fold. In anticipation of this move, Samsung Display is weighing the possibility of expanding its OLED panel production capabilities specifically for Apple’s foldable devices. Samsung Display is contemplating an investment in new foldable OLED manufacturing equipment at its A4 facility in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The primary focus will be on enhancing backplane-related processes, notably the thin-film transistor (TFT) production line. The general course of action has been decided, and the relevant capital expenditures are slated to begin in the second quarter of this year, contingent upon an internal review to finalize the specific investment scale.
