A fresh instance of the graphics card swapping scam has surfaced on Amazon. A user reported that upon receiving their ordered white ZOTAC RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, they opened the package only to discover a box filled with pebbles inside. In these types of scams, fraudsters typically purchase high-value hardware and then, during the return procedure, substitute the genuine item with a counterfeit of comparable weight, like stones. They then carefully restore the packaging to its original state, making it appear untouched and thus circumventing the inspection process. Given the challenge for the system to detect alterations made to the contents, the swapped item can easily re-enter the sales cycle and, ultimately, find its way into the hands of unsuspecting consumers.
