Apple is currently experimenting with two significant enhancements for the rear cameras of its forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models. To begin with, the primary camera will incorporate a variable aperture mechanism. This innovative feature allows for dynamic adjustment of the light intake, depending on the surrounding lighting conditions, thereby granting users greater command over depth-of-field effects. In contrast, the main camera apertures in the iPhone 14 Pro through 17 Pro series have remained fixed. It's worth noting that Samsung previously explored variable aperture technology but ultimately discontinued its use due to certain challenges. Additionally, the telephoto camera will sport a larger aperture design to boost light intake and might also integrate a teleconverter component to further amplify its telephoto capabilities.
