Lu Weibing of Xiaomi Group announced that the company’s Smart Home Appliance Factory is making intensive preparations to welcome public visits. Set to officially commence production in October 2025, this facility represents Xiaomi’s third large-scale smart factory and its inaugural dedicated to major home appliances. This achievement underscores Xiaomi’s successful integration of a closed-loop system encompassing product design, research and development, and manufacturing.

The factory boasts a high degree of automation, with injection molding and sheet metal workshops capable of operating with minimal human intervention, often referred to as "lights-out production." Aerial conveyor belts seamlessly connect various workshops, while 161 Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) manage distribution tasks, achieving an impressive 94% coverage rate in intelligent logistics. On average, an air conditioner rolls off the production line every 6.5 seconds, and all key components undergo rigorous 100% AI-powered visual quality inspections.

Located in Wuhan, the factory signed its agreement in August 2024, broke ground in November, and reached structural completion (topped out) in January of the following year. This rapid progression has set a new standard for what is now known as the "Optics Valley Speed," reflecting the remarkable efficiency and pace of development in the region.
