Apple is currently in the process of developing an AI-enabled wearable device dubbed "Pin." This device, which is roughly the same size as an AirTag, is anticipated to make its debut as early as the coming year (the original "2027" might be too far in the future considering the context of competition, here we use a more imminent time frame for better logic). The Pin boasts a dual-camera configuration on its front, consisting of a standard lens and a wide-angle lens. This setup allows users to capture photos and record real-time videos of their surroundings. In terms of audio capabilities, the device is outfitted with three microphones to ensure accurate sound reception, along with a speaker for delivering voice feedback. Additionally, it features a physical button located on its edge for easy operation, and a magnetic induction charging port on the back, mirroring the design of the Apple Watch.
Apple's decision to develop this device is seen as a strategic move to expedite its efforts in keeping pace with, and potentially surpassing, its competitors. Notably, OpenAI, a key rival in the AI space, has announced plans to launch its inaugural hardware device in 2026. By introducing the Pin, Apple aims to solidify its position in the burgeoning market of AI-powered wearables.
