2025 Global Mobile App Report: Downloads Keep Sliding, but Subscriptions Propel Revenue to Soar by Over 20%

On January 15, as reported by TechCrunch, the annual report published by app intelligence firm Appfigures revealed that in 2025, global mobile app downloads experienced a decline for the fifth straight year, hitting 106.9 billion, a 2.7% drop compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, consumer expenditure rose by 21.6%, amounting to $155.8 billion. Notably, spending on non-gaming apps skyrocketed by 33.9% year-on-year to $82.6 billion, outstripping, for the first time, the spending on gaming apps, which saw a 10% increase to $72.2 billion.
