On January 15, Apple made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of Apple Pay's cross-border payment functionality. Chinese cardholders who possess Visa credit cards issued by prominent banks such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, CITIC Bank, Ping An Bank, and Industrial Bank, as well as Visa debit cards from CITIC Bank, now have the option to add their cards to the Apple Wallet app, enabling them to make cross-border payments seamlessly. In the upcoming months, this convenient feature will also be extended to Visa credit cards issued by other major banks, including Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China Construction Bank, China Minsheng Bank, and China Everbright Bank. Additionally, Mastercard has indicated its intention to introduce this functionality for a select group of cardholders in the near future.
