According to sources familiar with the matter, Meta and EssilorLuxottica are discussing doubling the production capacity of AI smart glasses by the end of 2026, with annual output potentially exceeding 20 million pairs, in order to meet growing demand and seize market opportunities. Currently, EssilorLuxottica is close to achieving its original target of producing 10 million pairs annually by the end of 2026. If market demand remains strong, both parties are also considering further expanding production to 30 million pairs. Previously, due to demand far exceeding expectations, Meta had suspended some international market expansion plans for its new glasses. Meta held approximately a 73% global market share in the first half of 2025, taking the lead, but as competitors such as Google and Apple make their moves, market competition is heating up.
