On December 22, 2025, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a notice. According to this notice, all foreign-produced Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), along with their vital components—such as data transmission gear, communication systems, flight controllers, as well as the communication and video surveillance equipment and services explicitly listed in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025—were added to a regulated list. Consequently, the approval for importing or selling these products within the United States was prohibited.

Recently, the FCC has made the decision to grant a limited, temporary exemption. This exemption permits the continued importation of certain new models of foreign drones and their crucial components until the end of 2026. This move comes as a response to recommendations put forward by the Pentagon, with the overarching goal of minimizing the adverse impact on the U.S. agricultural sector and its associated industries.
