Since Apple became a participant in India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program in 2021, the cumulative value of iPhones exported from India has soared past US$50 billion by December 2025. Under this policy, Apple has been reaping financial rewards since the 2022 fiscal year. By the end of the first nine months of the 2026 fiscal year, the company had exported iPhones worth close to US$16 billion, propelling the total five-year export value over the US$50 billion mark.

During this same time frame, Samsung, another company taking part in the PLI scheme, exported smartphones from India valued at around US$17 billion. As of April 2025, Indian factories were responsible for roughly 20% of the world's iPhone production capacity. Moreover, Apple shipped 97% of its iPhones made in India to the United States, a move aimed at cutting down on tariff expenses.

An Indian minister hailed the US$50 billion export milestone as “momentous” and credited it to the “Make in India” initiative. This initiative is a flagship program launched by the Indian government to encourage domestic manufacturing and transform India into a global manufacturing hub.
