At the 2025 Xiaomi Human-Car-Home Full Ecosystem Partner Conference, Lu Weibing, the Partner and President of Xiaomi Group, revealed that OpenVela, Xiaomi's innovative platform, has amassed a global partnership network exceeding 100 entities, with over 160 million devices already equipped with its technology. OpenVela has successfully enhanced products spanning more than 1,500 categories, marking a significant milestone by expanding its reach from IoT chips to automotive MCUs for the first time.
Vela, an IoT embedded software platform crafted by Xiaomi on the foundation of NuttX, showcases remarkable versatility, being compatible with a wide array of products. Its minimal system requirements are impressively low, needing just 8KB of memory. In a move towards greater openness and collaboration, Xiaomi announced at the end of 2024 that it would open-source the Vela system code under the Apache 2.0 license, a project now known as OpenVela.
