On December 5, Kuaikeji (Fast Tech) reported that according to market analysis data released by SellCell, the iPhone Air has now claimed the title of being the least value-retaining phone in Apple's storied history. This data is derived from real-time trade-in quotes sourced from over 40 recycling companies across the United States. It involves a comparison of the average resale prices of various iPhone models against the manufacturer's suggested retail prices. It's worth noting that all devices included in this survey were in immaculate, like-new condition. The data reveals that ten weeks post-release, the iPhone 17 series experienced an average devaluation rate of 34.6%, which is a more favorable outcome compared to the 39% devaluation rate seen in the iPhone 16 series. Nevertheless, the iPhone Air stood out for its exceptionally poor value retention, with an average devaluation rate soaring to 44.3%. The 1TB variant of the iPhone Air took the biggest hit, earning the dubious distinction of being labeled as the "worst-performing model."
