On November 25, during the 2025 ByteDance Scholarship Award Ceremony, Yang Zhenyuan, ByteDance's Vice President of Technology, announced that PICO is set to introduce a new generation of products in 2026. This upcoming product will boast a fully in-house developed head-mounted display (HMD) dedicated chip. This chip is engineered to handle high-definition, high-frame-rate video in real-time, delivering low-latency and high-precision performance with a system latency of roughly 12 milliseconds. It's worth noting that the PICO in-house chip development project kicked off in June 2022, reached the tape-out stage in 2024, and has now transitioned into mass production, with all indicators aligning perfectly with the design specifications.

Moreover, the new PICO product will incorporate a bespoke MicroOLED screen, featuring a pixel density (PPI) of close to 4000, which is about 9 times higher than that of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The average pixels per degree (PPD) stands at 40, with the central region surpassing 45, marking a more than twofold improvement over the performance of the Pico 3.
