On November 25, BYD addressed an investor's question on its interactive platform concerning the progress of its low-altitude economy initiatives and flying car R&D. The company emphasized that technological innovation has always been at the heart of its operations. Committed to fulfilling people's aspirations for a better life, BYD closely observes consumer needs and pledges to introduce products that align with market demands at the right juncture. Previously, BYD has achieved remarkable strides in the flying car industry: In February 2025, the company formally declared its foray into this sector and showcased its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flying car, the 'Yunyi-1,' with a target to commence mass production by 2027. In July, its subsidiary Yangwang's Ufly successfully executed a cross-sea flight test from Zhuhai to Shenzhen and obtained eVTOL airworthiness certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Furthermore, the 'Yunyi-1' boasts a trimaran tiltrotor configuration, is outfitted with 12 independent electric drive units, offers a maximum range of 200 kilometers, reaches a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour, and integrates the latest solid-state lithium battery technology with supercharging capabilities. The route connecting Shenzhen Qianhai to Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town has been approved, with plans to deploy 50 units for operational use by 2026, providing single-seat tickets at a price of 298 yuan.
