On November 25, 2025, Huawei took the wraps off the Mate 80 series smartphones, introducing a groundbreaking 700MHz emergency communication function that operates independently of any network. In situations where the regular network is down, like during earthquakes, floods, or when someone is lost in the wilderness and out of touch, this function can serve as a vital link. It enables users to connect with rescue teams over that all-important last stretch. The rescue signals transmitted via the 700MHz emergency frequency band have remarkable penetration capabilities. They can penetrate through roughly three floors of a building and cover a communication distance of over 13 kilometers.
