The Russian authorities have recently rolled out fresh measures, instituting a 24-hour cap on mobile internet usage for individuals coming back from overseas trips. Authorities clarified that this initiative is designed to thwart Ukrainian drones from exploiting Russian SIM cards for pinpointing locations and navigating. As per the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, if a SIM card establishes a connection with a foreign network and subsequently reconnects to a domestic Russian network, it will be rendered inactive automatically. Prior to service restoration, the user is required to authenticate their identity, ensuring they are a legitimate user rather than an unmanned aerial vehicle. Travelers have the option to preemptively remove this restriction by employing a verification code or reaching out to their carrier's customer support.
