According to a report from the Financial Times, Apple is stepping up its efforts regarding its CEO succession strategy, with the possibility that current CEO Tim Cook could step down as soon as next year. John Ternus, Apple's 50-year-old Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, is widely regarded as the most probable candidate to take over. Since joining Apple in 2001, Ternus has played a pivotal role in the engineering and design processes for nearly all of the company's significant hardware offerings. In recent times, Apple's board and senior leadership have been ramping up preparations for this transition, although a definitive decision has yet to be reached.
