Recently, Beijing has unveiled a newly upgraded 'Tap-and-Go' transit card. This card stands out as the nation's inaugural eco-friendly smart transit card, enabling passengers to accrue Ant Forest energy points with every journey taken. It is also the first of its kind to offer activation services for both Huawei and Apple device users.
This innovative card boasts several key benefits, including 'free card activation, ride-now-pay-later convenience, nationwide acceptance, off-screen payment capability, and support for environmental causes.' After a hassle-free activation process through Alipay, citizens no longer need to open the Alipay app or specifically access the card. By simply bringing the NFC sensor area of their phone close to the gate and 'tapping,' they can seamlessly enter the station, even with the phone screen turned off. The card continues to function flawlessly even in the absence of an internet connection or when the phone is switched off.
Currently, the card can be activated on iPhone 8 and later models (with the iOS system version upgraded to 16.4 or above), as well as Huawei phones running system versions prior to HarmonyOS Next5.0.0 (non-HarmonyOS NEXT), provided that the Alipay version is 10.7.50 or higher. Moreover, after utilizing the card for public transportation, users will be rewarded with Ant Forest energy points—80g for each bus ride and 52g for each subway ride. These energy points can be exchanged for saplings for public welfare projects, enabling users to participate in nationwide afforestation drives and contribute to carbon reduction endeavors.
