Tesla has announced a recall of roughly 10,500 Powerwall 2 battery energy storage systems across the United States, prompted by 22 reported incidents of overheating. Designed as a residential energy storage solution, this product carries a potential fire and burn hazard. The root cause lies in specific lithium-ion battery cells that, under certain conditions, might overheat, emit smoke, or even ignite. Several instances have already led to property damage. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has clarified that the affected systems could malfunction and overheat, thereby elevating the risk of severe injury or fatality. As of now, no injuries have been reported in relation to this issue.
