Since its debut in September 2025, the sales performance of Apple's iPhone 17 series has significantly outstripped that of the iPhone 16 series during the corresponding period. Data from Counterpoint Research reveals that sales of the base model of the iPhone 17 in China are almost twice as high as those of the iPhone 16, with 1.1 million units sold within the first 10 days of its release, in contrast to 550,000 units for the iPhone 16 during the same timeframe. The overall sales of the iPhone 17 series have witnessed a 40% year-on-year increase, with the Pro Max variant experiencing a 34% rise and the Pro model seeing a 22% uptick. Market analysts attribute the blockbuster (a term denoting extraordinary success or popularity) sales of the iPhone 17 series to Apple's strategy of "providing more value without raising the price" and substantial product enhancements. These include, for the first time, the standard version being fitted with a 120Hz ProMotion adaptive refresh rate display, starting storage capacity of 256GB, and the incorporation of a new-generation A19 chip.
