Recently, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Study Group 5 (SG5) has officially approved and released the standard L.1004, titled "General Fast-Charging Solution for Mobile Terminals." This groundbreaking standard was jointly developed by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), in collaboration with leading Chinese tech companies Huawei, OPPO, and vivo. This achievement marks a significant milestone, as it represents the first globally recognized universal fast-charging standard established by the ITU.

China’s independently developed fast-charging technology has been highlighted as the sole global case study in the "Best Practices of the Solution" section of the standard. The standard integrates a variety of efficient and secure fast-charging technologies, ensuring compatibility across devices and brands. By doing so, it effectively addresses the long-standing issue of fast-charging protocol incompatibility, which has been a persistent challenge for both consumers and the industry.

Moving forward, consumers will benefit from the convenience of using a single charger to efficiently power up smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices from different manufacturers. This development not only enhances user experience but also contributes to reducing electronic waste, aligning with global efforts toward sustainable development.
