On October 27, the Shandong Provincial Communications Administration, in collaboration with several other departments, jointly unveiled the Special Plan for Low-Altitude Information Infrastructure in Shandong Province. This plan aims to foster closer collaboration among fundamental telecommunications enterprises, communication equipment producers, enterprises engaged in low-altitude flight operations and manufacturing, scientific research institutions, and industry associations. The objective is to intensify joint research efforts on pivotal technologies for low-altitude communication networks, delve into collaborative optimization strategies for communication and sensing, and establish pertinent technical facility standards and specifications. Additionally, the plan champions the integration of 5G-A technology into emerging aircraft categories, such as industrial-grade drones, light and small fixed-wing electric aircraft, new energy drones, and eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. It also emphasizes the need for research and development (R&D) to adapt 5G RedCap modules for low-altitude drone applications and to conduct verification tests for these applications.
