According to a report from market research firm Omdia, global shipments of personal computers (encompassing desktops, notebooks, and workstations) witnessed a 6.8% year-on-year surge in the third quarter of 2025, hitting the 72 million unit mark. Breaking it down, notebook shipments hit 57.2 million units, marking a 4% year-on-year rise, while desktop shipments reached 15.2 million units, a notable 17% year-on-year increase.

The primary drivers behind this growth were the demand for device upgrades spurred by the end of Windows 10 service support and the worldwide movement to replace aging PCs. Another research firm, IDC, presented data indicating that global PC shipments climbed by 9.4% year-on-year during the same timeframe, amounting to 75.8 million units.

When it comes to vendor rankings, Lenovo emerged as the leader, shipping 19.4 million units, a significant 17% year-on-year increase. HP trailed closely behind with 15 million units shipped, an 11% year-on-year uptick. Dell secured the third spot, experiencing a 3% year-on-year growth. Apple maintained its momentum, with shipments surpassing 6 million units for the fifth consecutive quarter. ASUS rounded out the top five, shipping 5.8 million units.
