On September 26, 2025, Lee Chung, President of Samsung Display, was interviewed by reporters before the 16th Display Day celebration event at the Lotte World Hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul. He revealed that Samsung Display is preparing an 8.6-generation organic light-emitting diode (OLED) production line, with formal production expected to commence at the end of the second quarter or the third quarter of next year. Meanwhile, the company is accelerating preparations for the mass production of foldable phone OLED panels for a North American customer.
