According to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, the independently developed manned airship ‘Xiangyun’ AS700 has successfully completed its inaugural flight in China’s southwestern region. This landmark achievement thoroughly demonstrated the airship’s flight stability and safety in low-altitude plateau environments. The flight was conducted in Guanling, Guizhou Province, at an altitude of 1,200 meters—marking the first time a low-altitude flight has been carried out at an elevation exceeding 1,000 meters.

The data collected on environmental adaptability and plateau flight parameters not only confirm the AS700’s suitability for low-altitude operations in southwest China but also pave the way for ongoing product enhancements and iterations. These improvements will enable the airship to better meet the demands of diverse application scenarios, including emergency rescue, aerial surveillance, and tailored flight support services, and establish a solid foundation for its future expansion into these critical areas.
