As reported by tech news platform BleepingComputer, Microsoft has officially recognized a flaw in the classic edition of the Outlook desktop application. This issue hinders users from accessing OMEv2-encrypted emails sent from different organizational tenants, prompting an error message that reads, "Configuring computer for Information Rights Management." Microsoft is currently delving into the underlying cause of this problem and has issued a provisional workaround. Administrators are instructed to access the Microsoft Entra admin center and activate the "Trust multi-factor authentication (MFA) from Microsoft Entra tenants" feature within the "Trust settings" section, located under "Inbound access settings." It's important to note that this fix necessitates adjustments from both the sender and the receiver. In essence, both parties involved in the email exchange must enable this setting to ensure the uninterrupted sending and receiving of encrypted emails.
