On September 19, 2025, Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series to the market, setting off a wave of enthusiastic purchases among consumers. Yet, as the first wave of users eagerly unwrapped their brand-new devices, a disconcerting issue emerged: the frame of the iPhone 17 Pro series seemed particularly vulnerable to scratches. This discovery quickly ignited a flurry of discussions across online platforms.
According to reports, in a bid to enhance heat dissipation and reduce the overall weight of the phones, Apple opted to switch the frame material of the iPhone 17 Pro series from titanium to aluminum alloy. Unfortunately, this change also led to a decline in the frame's resistance to scratches. A significant number of users have reported that during the process of applying a screen protector, simply using the positioning frame of a dust-free film application tool to touch the phone's frame resulted in visible scratches and, in some cases, even small dents.
In response to these complaints, Apple's customer service team explained that aluminum alloy, by its nature, is a relatively softer material. As such, minor scratches are considered a normal part of everyday use. To mitigate this issue, they advised users to consider using protective cases. Additionally, Apple reiterated its commitment to customer satisfaction by offering a 14-day return and exchange policy for affected devices.
