On September 18, 2025, during its Connect conference, Meta officially rolled out the Hyperscape panoramic scanning technology, tailored for the Quest 3 and Quest 3S VR headsets. This groundbreaking innovation swiftly transforms physical environments into immersive, interactive VR landscapes, facilitating a digital recreation of real-world settings.

Leveraging the headset, users can conduct a comprehensive space scan in mere minutes. Once the data is uploaded to Meta's cloud server for processing, a highly detailed 3D spatial model is generated within hours. Hyperscape harnesses a suite of advanced 3D reconstruction algorithms, such as Gaussian splatting and point cloud technology, to refine the accuracy and visual authenticity of scene capture.

At present, the 'Hyperscape Capture' feature is accessible to Quest 3 and Quest 3S users enrolled in the Early Access program. However, its functionality is currently limited to personal viewing of the created virtual spaces. Looking ahead, Meta envisions integrating this technology into the Horizon Worlds platform. This will empower users to invite others to explore and interact within the virtual scenes they've scanned and crafted, fostering shared experiences and collaborative engagement.
